While the cinematic X-Men franchise has had its fair shares of highs and lows, I'm still an avid fan and have rather enjoyed the "First Class" revival of the series.

Due to Days of Future Past fixed a few of the inconsistencies virtually saving the franchise and wiping the slate clean for the series to move forward. While Apocalypse may have been a little disappointing, it opened the doors to once more tackle the Dark Phoenix saga that was dealt so poorly with during 2006's The Last Stand. So it came as no surprise the beloved storyline would be the subject of the next installment and also the title of the film.

With 12 movies in the franchise, we've seen several different X-Men uniforms over the years, and it looks like Dark Phoenix will also be including some changes. Unlike those worn at the end of Apocalypse, the new uniforms will are based on the 2000's Grant Morrison and Frank Quitely's New X-Men run.

Even in the leaked set photo below, the suits are looking pretty damn cool and a nice improvement since we last saw our favourite gang of mutants.

Except for Mystique, Jean Grey, Cyclops, Storm, Beast, Quicksilver, and Nightcrawler are all seen wearing matching suits. The new blue look with the yellow X over the chest area is nice little call back to the comics which will without a doubt please a lot of fans.

Dark Phoenix is set ten years after the events of Apocalypse and sees for the first time the X-Men regarded as national heroes. When a solar flare hits them during a rescue mission in space, Jean Grey loses control of her abilities, and the full power of the Phoenix is unleashed.

I so can't wait for this!

Finally, it looks like we'll get the Dark Phoenix storyline that fans should have gotten back in 2006!

Dark Phoenix is currently in post-production and set to be released November this year!
