While the return of The L Word with The L Word: Generation Q has been met with praise, it's also equally been met with criticism. But love it or hate, the series has been renewed for a follow-up season.
The new take on the series sees a new generation of LGBTQ+ peeps into the world of The L World, still populated with a few original generation faces such as Jennifer Beals' Bette Porter, Leisha Haley's Alice Pieszecki, and Katherine Moennig's Shane McCutcheon.
As there's a 10-year gap between the series, it was only expected that the story would pick up focussing on their lives in the present.
With this fact, there have been a few revelations about the original gen characters, most notably who killed Jenny. As it turned out, no one did, which is somewhat disappointing, considering the series ended on such a cliff hanger.
The new series sees Bette running for Mayor, Shane is a successful hairdresser and Alice making it big with her own talk show. Then there's a whole host of new faces adding to the drama. While it's great to see the series return, for me, it has had its fair share of hits and misses.
With a second season confirmed, perhaps it will allow a few more callbacks to the original series while continuing to expand on The L Word universe... and hopefully work out a way to bring the character of Jenny back. Let's be honest whether you liked her or not. Jenny was The L Word!
