I've always had a soft spot for The Terminator franchise, but there's no denying that everything that came after T2: Judgement Day failed to live up to the standard that James Cameron set with the first two films. However, the latest installment Terminator: Dark Fate is set to change that.

Yes, I know we've been here before. As we waited for each film to hit the cinemas, the hype was real only to find ourselves at various stages of disappointment with what we saw on the big screen. However, it's different now. We might actually get The Terminator film fans have been waiting 28 years for.

For the first time since 1991's T2: Judgement Day, not only does Linda Hamilton return to the role that made her a household name, but the writer and director of the original two returns as producer. That's right James Cameron has returned. If that wasn't enough to get you excited, Arnold Schwarzenegger is slated to make another appearance as the titular android with a license to kill. The gang is back together!

Like all good trailers, it doesn't reveal too much of the plot, but by the looks of things, we are going to see the older characters pass the torch to a new generation in a way that will hopefully wrap up the original story and possibly even spark a new franchise.

Taking the role of director is Deadpool's Tim Miller, and while James Cameron is producing the film, he has reportedly been around for all the important decisions in making Terminator: Dark Fate, including to ditch every sequel that came after the 1991 hit.

I don't want to get too ahead of myself. But with all these factors involved, it seems this sequel will return the franchise back to its roots, and I'm 100% on board for the ride!
