Everything we've heard about the Elton John biopic Rocketman definitely has my crew counting down the days to the film's release later this month. Just check out the trailer.

How can you not want to see it? Knowing that Elton John has had a lot of input to the film already has me thinking we're going to get something a little more closer to the truth than what we got with Bohemian Rhapsody. Yes, I understand everyone loved the film, but I do have issues with the choices made to tell the narrative that was delivered in the final product. However, let's leave that for another day.

What makes Rocketman also that little more interesting is not only does Taron Egerton play the icon, he also sings his tracks throughout the film as well. Elton John himself was adamant that Egerton should sing in the movie, and as it turns out, he got his way.

“It was so important that the music I composed and recorded had to be sung by Taron. I wanted his interpretation of me, through Bernie [Taupin]’s lyrics and my music – not just acting. I left Taron in the hands of [producer and composer] Giles Martin, who I trusted implicitly because he’s brilliant.” said the singer in a press release.

“I didn’t want to be in Taron’s shadows, watching over the process. I trusted them to do what they needed to do, artistically, and, listening back, I’ve been astonished with the results. Getting the music right was the most important thing, as the songs in the film are integral to the story.”

And it pleases me to say Taron sounds superb covering the iconic catalog. In the lead up to the film's release, we've been treated with a video of the actor singing 'Rocket Man' in the recording studio cut with footage from the film and it's quite the treat.

Speechless!
