RuPaul continues to make Herstory by winning her fifth consecutive Emmy for Outstanding Host for a Reality or Competition Program. Previously, Survivor host, Jeff Probst had the record for four straight wins in the category.
RuPaul used the opportunity to make a political statement and dedicate the win to the late Chi Chi DeVayne, who sadly passed away in August.
“I’ve always said, every time I bat my false eyelashes, I’m making a political statement. Tonight, the only political statement I want to make is this: love,” RuPaul said in a pre-taped acceptance speech.
“Love for our LGBT brothers and sisters, love for Black queens and brown queens and love for the United States of America where a little gay boy with nothing more than a pussycat wig and a dream can build an international platform that celebrates sweet sensitive souls everywhere.”
“On November 3 make this your ring tone: The time has come for you to vote for your life,” the Ru continued, before telling viewers how they can register to vote.
The Emmy-winning host than finished the speech dedicating the win to season eight queen, Chi Chi Devayne, “I’d like to dedicate this Emmy to one of my girls, Chi Chi DeVayne, may you rest in power and perfection.”
