It looks like the CW has found its Batwoman in the form of Ruby Rose. The network has cast the model-actress to play Kate Kane a.k.a Batwoman with the character making her onscreen debut during the network's annual DC crossover event in December. The casting news comes hot on the heels after the announcement that the CW was developing a stand-alone TV series based on the lesbian superhero.

Rose hit the international spotlight when she was cast in Netflix's Orange in is the New Black and has since appeared in Pitch Perfect 3, XXX: The Return of Xander Cage, John Wick: Chapter 2 and stars in the upcoming monster flick, The Meg.

When you take into account that fight scene with Keanu Reeves in John Wick: Chapter 2, Rose does show potential for battling crime on the dirty streets of Gotham City. However, we might as well address the elephant in the room. She did do well in that movie because she technically had no lines and just had to look stunning, but I'm yet to see her a role where I'm overly impressed with her acting. Who knows, she might actually surprise us.

If Batwoman gets picked up as a series, the openly gay actress who also identifies as gender fluid will make history starring in the first TV series to focus on an LGBT superhero. However, before that happens, Rose has to bring the character to life this December when characters from CW's Arrow, The Flash, and Supergirl all meet up for the annual crossover television event. We can only begin to ponder what circumstances has Batwoman crossing their paths.
