There's no denying that The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert is a classic of Australian cinema, and fans of the movie are in for a fabulous treat with the latest stage incarnation. Priscilla Queen of the Desert The Musical is an absolute feast for the senses that will leave you rockin' in your seat!

David Harris (Tick), Tony Sheldon (Bernadette), and Euan Doidge (Felicia) are picture perfect as musical's leads and pay superb tribute to the film's original stars. Without a doubt, it's Euan's portrayal of Felicia that is the real showstopper. There is not a moment Euan's energy on stage doesn't leave you captivated. It must be mentioned that Aussie icon Ray Meagher, is all kinds of adorable as Bob. While Oliver De Los Santos portrayal of Tick's son Benji will melt your hearts. The little time he spends on stage provides a beautiful insight into the simple mind of a child who has more important things to worry about than his dad being a drag queen.

Credit must be given to the ensemble cast as well. Too often in musicals, the ensemble often vanishes into the background becoming part of the furniture. It's not the case with Priscilla, they all shine thanks to a fantastic set list of musical numbers and fabulous costumes. Instead of just focusing of who is front and centre, you find yourself exploring the visual masterpiece as a whole. The subtle details that have been put into crafting this production will leave you watching on in awe.

The music and costumes are just as important as the cast, working to tell the parts of the story that the script could not. Each song used throughout the production is instrumental in moving the story along, and I was pleased to say that not a single song choice is wasted. One example of this is "Colour My World" by Petula Clark where giant dancing paintbrushes flock to the stage to wipe away homophobia and give the old school buss a vibrant musical makeover.

While you might note that the set design throughout the production is relatively simple relying heavily on lighting effects, it works beautifully well with the extravagant drag queens that take to the stage from start to finish.

Priscilla Queen of the Desert The Musical not only captures the heart and soul of the iconic film, but it expands on it with brilliant results creating a beautiful story of self-discovery, friendship and family that will have you tapping your toes well beyond the curtain has dropped.
