It looks like out actor Neil Patrick Harris is the latest star set to plug into The Matrix. Not that long ago, it was revealed that Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Ann Moss were returning to the franchise, so it comes as no surprise that the latest installment would welcome a few new faces to the movie series as well.
With The Matrix 4 set to begin filming next year, the cast is starting to grow. Variety is reporting that the former How I Met Your Mother star has signed on to play an undisclosed role in the sequel. This makes Harris the second new addition to the franchise, following the casting announcement that Aquaman star Yahya Abdul-Mateen II has also signed on for the film.
Currently, all details regarding the plot are under wraps, so it's virtually impossible with the exception of Reeves and Moss as to who will be playing who. There have been rumours that a young version of Morpheus will factor into the story, but there's still no concrete evidence to back that as of yet.
Lana Wachowski, who co-directed all three of the original films with her sister Lily, is returning to helm latest addition. Lana also co-wrote the screenplay alongside Aleksandar Hemon and David Mitchell.
Harris' role in Netflix's A Series of Unfortunate Events proved he could play a variety of diverse characters. Considering he looks mighty damn fine in a shirt and tie, it would be great to see him play a suited-up villain. Could he be the new Mr. Smith? Only time will tell.
