It looks like slasher series Halloween is doing an X-Men and completely resetting the franchise. In the just-released teaser trailer, it's revealed that the David Gord Green-directed and Green/ Danny McBride-scribed flick is a direct sequel to the original 1978 Halloween, picking up 40 years after the first film's climax.

So what does this mean? Quite simply everything that has taken place in the following films has been wiped out of continuity meaning Mike Myers has had 40 odd years in prison to get super pissed and ready for revenge. This also means that the sibling connection between Mike Myers and Laurie Strode is now the stuff of urban legends and in a "meta" move the teaser even makes reference to that.

I personally think it's a great way to revitalise the franchise without going down the typical reboot route. Also having the original scream queen Jamie Lee Curtis bring back an aged and somewhat crazy Laurie Strode back to the big screen to go against a 61-year-old Myers will definitely be entertaining and somewhat nostalgic for horror fans.

Check out the teaser trailer below.

I'm super keen for this. What about you?
