In a statement, the singer said she wanted to break out of her comfort zone and "challenge" herself to create music that could sit alongside some of her favourite pop songs from the likes of Gwen Stefani, Madonna, Blondie, and Moloko.

"Because of the time that I'd spent on the road touring with my band, I wanted Future Nostalgia to have a lot more of a live element, but mixed together with modern electronic production," Lipa says of the upcoming album.

"My sound has naturally matured a bit as I've grown up, but I wanted to keep the same pop sensibility as I had on the first record. I remember that I was on my way to a radio show in Las Vegas thinking about the direction for this new record, and I realised that what I wanted to make was something that felt nostalgic but had something fresh and futuristic about it too."

Her second single of the album, "Physical," will be released later today with the music video dropping tomorrow.

You can watch a teaser for the clip below.

In an interview with Billboard, she said that the track is very '80s inspired and quite "quite Flashdance-y."

"It's fun, you can dance to it," she added, "It's definitely my craziest of high energy songs."

Dua Lipa will also be headlining the this year's sold-out Mardi Gras Party alongside KESHA, Brazilian drag superstar Pabllo Vittar and special guest Sam Smith. So if you managed to score yourself a ticket, you're gonna be in for one hell of a party!
