The New Mutants finally sees the light of day. What was originally a spinoff from Fox's main X-Men franchise and directed by Josh Boone, the film had its fair share of production troubles that left many wondering if the film would ever get a release?

After Disney bought out Fox, many thought it might just end up as a meager offering on Disney's streaming service. However, as it turns out The New Mutants will indeed have a theatrical release hitting cinemas in April.

Based on the Marvel comics of the same name, the film follows five young mutants who must escape the facility where they're being held against their will with not everything being as it seems. The New Mutants stars Anya Taylor-Joy as Magik, Maisie Williams as Wolfsbane, Henry Zaga as Sunspot, Charlie Heaton as Cannonball, and Blu Hunt as Mirage.

The film dropped its first trailer back in October of 2017 and was since delayed several times with reports that Fox wanted to schedule reshoots. Now Disney is going full steam ahead with its marketing dropping a brand new trailer showing an abundance of new footage.

While I'm completely down for this flick, it's yet to be seen whether the film will fare better than Dark Phoenix, which turned out to be a major flop at the box office. Only time will tell. However, if all goes well, this could open doors for Disney to launch a new X-Men franchise, not relying on the traditional characters often associated with the series.
