Frozen 2 is here and much to the disappointment to fans, Elsa didn't get a girlfriend, however it seems the sequel has given fans a new queer coming out anthem.

The song in question is 'Show Yourself,' with many dubbing it as the sequel to 'Let It Go' which became an instant favourite among the film's LGBTQ+ fans the first time around.

“I’ve never felt so certain, all my life I’ve been torn, but I’m here for a reason, could it be the reason I was born?” the lyrics read. “I have always been so different, normal rules did not apply, is this the day, are you the way, I finally find out why?”

Now if that's not queer subtext, I don't know what is. Of course fans are praising it as a new LGBTQ+ anthem.

“Show Yourself is literally the most powerful gay anthem ever created.” wrote one user on Twitter.

While another added, "In Frozen Elsa sings Let It Go & realizes she’d rather be alone than conform to society but in Frozen 2 she sings Show Yourself & embraces who she really is, lives authentically and finds a community where she is accepted and celebrated which is some gay shit in this essay I will"

Fans have long campaigned for Elsa to have a same-sex romance with even Idina Menzel who voices the character giving it her blessing.

“I think it’s a wonderful idea. It’s a wonderful conversation that we should all have about whether a Disney princess or queen could be gay,” the actress said.

However, according to Frozen 2 songwriter Kristen Anderson-Lopez, the writers didn’t want Elsa to be defined by a love interest.

“There’s so many movies that define a woman by her romantic interest,” she previously told IGN in an interview. “That’s not a story that we wanted to tell.”

Well depending how Frozen 2 goes at the box office, maybe the third time around we might see Elsa get a girlfriend of her own. But then again we're fine with Elsa being all independant as well!
