Charli XCX and Troye Sivan do the ultimate throwback with their new music video for joint single, "1999."

26-year-old Charli enlisted the 23-year-old Aussie to star to shine on the nostalgic bop, that makes references to Britney Spears, Michael Jackson, Nike Airs and more. Sivan even fits in a thirsty little shout out to 90s heartthrob and Home Improvement star, Jonathan Taylor Thomas. Whatever happened to him?

The music video is directed by Charli and Ryan Staake and features Sivan channelling a variety of 90s icons from Marilyn Manson to NSYNC-era Justin Timberlake (yes noodle hair and all), while Charli pays her own tributes to names such as the Spice Girls and Mena Suvari in American Beauty. There's even a great call out to Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet's "I'm king of the world" scene from Titanic.

I gotta admit, it's a cute music video, especially if you forget the fact that Charli was born in 1992 and Troye was born in 1995.
