The latest trailer for Captain Marvel has arrived, and it's pretty damn good! While Marvel Studios keeps everyone a little frustrated refusing to release one for Avengers 4. They've at least appeased the Marvel loving masses with a whole lot of new footage of the upcoming standalone superhero film, introducing the world to Carol Danvers played by Brie Larson.

Currently, in the Marvel Cinematic Universe timeline, we've gone back as far as World War II with Captain America: The First Avenger, while Ant-Man gave us glimpses of Hank Pym in the 60s and 70s. But there's been a pretty large gap leading up to the events of 2008's Iron Man. However, it looks like Captain Marvel is serving as a prequel to the events of the MCU kicking off right in the middle of the 90s.

Throw in an abundant of 90s references and a very young Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson), and we're going to be in for a treat! The film will also introduce the race of shapeshifters known as the Skrulls and "Noble warrior heroes” the Kree elite Starforce. How it all blends into the greater cinematic universe is going to make for some pretty captivating viewing, and we can't wait!

There's no denying Captain Marvel serves as a historic moment for the Marvel Cinematic Universe being the first female-fronted superhero, it may have taken 10 years, but it looks like they've served up something quite ambitious and different to what has come before, while also serving as a precedent of what's to come with future installments.

Captain Marvel will unleash her full power at cinemas March 8, 2019.
