CBS aired the 2018 Kennedy Center Honors on Boxing Day, and one performance has been making the headlines ever since.

The Kennedy Center Honors is an annual honour given to those in the performing arts for their contribution to American culture. The 2018 honourees consisted of composer Phillip Glazz, country singer Reba McEntire, jazz sax player Wayne Shorter, the creators of Hamilton: An American Musical (Andy Blankenbuehler, Thomas Kail, Alex Lacamoire, and Lin-Manuel Miranda) and the iconic one and only Cher.

Cyndi Lauper, Little Big Town, and Adam Lambert all took to the stage to honour Cher with some pretty amazing performances. But it was Lambert's performance of "Believe" that stole the show. Backed by an orchestra, Lambert slowed down the '98 classic and turned it into a beautiful ballad with his signature high notes moving the 72-year-old icon to tears.

The official videos of the evening's performances have been geotagged and not yet available to Australians. So here's a not so "official" video from Facebook.

Seriously, just wow! I've never personally been a big fan of Adam Lambert, but the performance even moved me. He slays it!!!

Other tributes included the American Idol alum being joined on stage by Cyndi Lauper for a rendition of “I Got You Babe", Lauper singing "If I could turn back time," Little Big Town performing a Cher medley, while Whoopie Goldberg appeared on stage in Cher inspired sequin outfit to honour the legend in speech.
